OC’s Storied Kingsmen Alumni Corps

to Perform at NAMM Trade Show

The Kingsmen Alumni Corps, an Orange County-based drum & bugle group, will perform for the second straight year as special invitation entertainers at the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) annual trade show, the largest industry event of its kind in the nation. The Kingsmen will play musical selections from the crowd-pleasing exhibition performance it gave last summer at the 35th Annual Drum Corps International World Championships at the Rose Bowl.

The all-volunteer Kingsmen Alumni Corps was formed 3 years ago and worked toward the goal of flawlessly performing an “old school” show at the DCI world championships that would be held in Pasadena in ‘07. In 1972, with their elegant style and trademark precision, the Kingsmen won the first DCI world championships. By the close of that storied ’72 season, the Kingsmen had performed as part of Bob Hope’s USO tour, and had become the official musical representatives of Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm and the California Angels baseball team. The Kingsmen also became the official musical representatives of the City of Anaheim.

Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 — 9:00 to 10:00 AM

Anaheim Convention Center, 800 West Katella Ave., Anaheim  (In front lobby area.)

The average age of the Kingsmen Alumni Corps members is 49. The Corps is a performing unit of the nonprofit Kingsmen Starcorps Inc., which is currently forming a junior drum & bugle corps for Orange County youths. The Kingsmen Alumni Corps’ contributing sponsors include Dynasty USA, Sabian Cymbals, Pro-Mark Drum Sticks and Mallets, Evans Drum Heads, and Dinkles Marching Shoes.
