Little Drummer Boy Performance

By adminkac - Posted on 17 January 2010

Under KAC Director Mike Mekata’s conducting, The Kingsmen Alumni Corps drumline (ten KAC snares, one timpanist, one bass and one cymbal) teamed up with the Church of Southland’s Praise Band and vocalists in Anaheim to perform a custom version of Josh Grobin’s Little Drummer Boy on Sunday, December 13, 2009. The performances were very well received with the audience asking for and receiving an energetic encore performance following the second performance.

In honor of the Kingsmen tradition, the corps envisioned, developed and performed a bold new musical/performance concept that exceeded expectations. The venue was developed in a very short time frame (less than three months) utilizing new and innovative practice and rehearsal approaches and drawing upon the experience base of the performers.

Kingsmen members who performed include Dave Adkins, Greg Meader, Edgar Aliviado, Peter Yi, Armando Ayala, Fabian Hurtado, Chico Effiert, Scott Moreno, Steve Munsey, Dale Lofgren, Steve Sankey, Steve Warmbier and Bill Geimann. Peter’s six year old son, Ethan Yi, was our Little Drummer Boy.

Look for LDB to be performed again next year.
